ABOUT WORK....A 21st CENTURY PAPUA NEW GUINEAN PERSPECTIVE

1. Always do what you love. If you're not having fun, you're in the wrong job.

2. Choose where you want to work. Places and people have a direct impact on your health and well-being. Money isn't always the answer.

3. When you identify a problem, always have a solution ready.

4. In any capacity, think like a CEO. Think opportunity, strategy and suggest it.

5. Treat the company you work for as your own. Always ask: "If I owned this company, how would I run it?"

6. Think people. Cut out unnecessary structures and procedures that hinder outcomes.

8. Have a social conscience. Give to those who need help and add value to the lives of people. Consider the future generation.

7. Seek out fresh talent. People who are eager to learn and are unafraid of challenges. They usually, don't have the "right qualification."

7. Reward employees according to the amount of work they do and how well they do it. Pay grades are old school. That's why the PNG public service is in the state it's in today.
