MORNING OVER DREAM VALLEY (poem)

Stalks of green elephant grass
With flowers powdery yellow
From way down a bellow
T’was the calm and peace I felt
That one morning over dream valley

Red earth in my hands
They said: You’ve grown let it be
But it all beckons to me
The mist was clearing… another day
That one morning over dream valley

A hawk soared high above
Wild majestic and free
I too spread my wings in glee
I soared with the hawk
That one morning over dream valley

The sun peeked over the hills beyond
This feeling, I thought, let it last
But it was all fading fast
Like the woolly pockets of mist
That one morning over dream valley

It was real… I swear it was
Or I would not be the person I am today
I lived a dream each day… everyday
And I’ll never ever forget
That one morning over dream valley
